Rear Astro Vent???

I looking in all the catalogues, I see that the two vents on the back of my 75 coupe were part of the rear astro vent system. Mine however don't do anything. They are just screwed in to the deck and there is no vent hole underneath them. Was this a option on some cars. Or was it only on cars without factory A/C? Or has there been major repair to this vette that wasn't completly finished?

Factory AC cars have the vent blocked off. Non AC cars are open and have a pair of "flappers" which are vacuum operated. With the heat or "vent" on, the flappers open so air flows through the car and out the back. With the system in the "off" position, the flappers are closed. Don't want the cold air going out on an AC car, so it wasn't used. Chuck
