I thought I was missing a bumper mount ,far front of rear bumper there is mount but on frame there is no braket going to bumper mount. I have looked at my parts catalogs, can not find . My bumper 63, has 5 mounts. Does the far front of rear bumper bolt to the body and not the frame ? thanks Mike

I don't know if there is one but mine doesn't have it.. Thanks for making me look now I need to know too...:L :L I think it doesn't have one though a bracket that is.. Dave...

My mistake - answered by memory which is not what it used to be...

According the the AIM, the front mounting point is only a bolt, a flat washer and a lock washer inserted through the fiberglass. Sorry.

True. There is a piece of metal bonded into the fiberglass (not visible - at the hole) to lend some stability. NOTE: That too is from memory, so I hope I'm correct.

No metal bonded into the fiberglass at the forward rear bumper attachment - just the end of the long angled bracket from the frame against the inside of the panel, and the bolt, lock and flat washers going through the bracket and panel into the weld nut in the bracket on the bumper.

John,

I think you made the same mistake I did. The front bolt does not have a bracket it is only through the fiberglass.

To show pictures, the attachment point I believe we are talking about is the front one which has no bracket. The bent bracket is for the hole in the middle of the drawing. The front bolt, to the left has no supporting bracket. The view from inside the fender is shown in the second drawing.

But I could be wrong - I've been twisted up before...

I've made this mistake before. John appears to be right.

See here...... http://www.licorvette.com/pdfcatalogfiles/cat22/0607.pdf

I'll find out soon when I return the bumpers to their rightful place. :D

When you have over 2000 pictures of the restoration on your office computer there is no need to go to the garage.:D

Geesh Dave........... I wasn't planning on heading out to the garage until later this evening. ;LOL

Thanks for help sure seems there should be a support bracket , when I removed rear bumpers to have replated both of front mounts on bumpers, the bolt heads were broken off ,I have most of the rear off ,just got rear end back from Bairs, looks great :beer New T-arms ,composit spring , looking for new rear shocks Bairs advises 14 1/2 center to center, any help with this? HOPE TO SEE YOU ALLLLL IN AUBURN

Although you would think there would be a bracket for that forward bolt hole, there isn't. I had this same question last year. If you look carefully at the AIM, it shows there is no bracket there, only the bolt through the fibreglas.

Dave, I hope that you have those pictures saved on CD's or as a last resort " ZIP Discs or floppies". ZIP's and Floppies are not permanent, but are only spinning when you are trying to read them, and the magnetic surface is slowly deteriorating, like magnetic recording tape (VHS, Cassette, 8-track, etc), time is their enemy.

I have seen too many hard drives die and take all stored info with them to their grave. Backup any important items that you will want in the future, hard drives are not a recommended form of storage as they crash. Been there and have the shirts!

Yup, you're right - I was thinking of the corner hole (the one in the middle of the photo), not the extreme forward hole; just a bolt and washers at the extreme forward mounting hole.

Gee, John, I'm getting tired jumping back and forth across the fence. :gap

I agree with John and Subfixer. Just finished repairing this area on my 65 (had to rebuild that little "bump-out" shown in Dave65's pics) and as much as I'd have liked a bracket to that front hole there isn't one. My first thought was similar to that of others, Gee I must be missing this part. The AIM set me straight too.
