Rear end noise

I have started hearing a strange noise from the rear end (differential) of my 97 automatic. When it's cold everything sounds normal but after it is warmed up there is a growl or grinding noise coming from the rear end when I make slow speed turns. Only have 26K miles. I had the fluid changed in the differential and that did not help. Any ideas? Am I looking at a new rear end?

when the fluid was changed, was the "friction modifier" additive also poured in?

Try driving figure "8"'s in a huge - open parking lot (look out for lamp posts). This gets the fluid into the clutch packs.

Thanks for the reply. The additive was put in and the figure 8s didn't help. Guess next step is take it to the dealer.

Make sure it's the diff. It could be the rear wheel bearings also.
