I'm trying to locate a noise I'm hearing from the rear of the car while rolling. It's more noticeable at slow speeds. Would it be safe for the car if I put the rear on jack stands with both wheels off of the ground? I'm asking because of the way the C3's drive shafts are. I don't want to cause any damage. While idling, I would put it in drive with foot on the brake to keep the wheels turning at a slow rate. I will have some help on this so I can listen for any noise. So, would this be Ok or is it a no. Thanks. :w

If you jack up the rear and let the 1/2 shafts hang down they will bind if you start the car and put it in gear. You would have to have the shafts at ride height which is parallel to the ground not hanging. Without the car weight on the suspension I don't know if you will find the problem anyway. Put a deep well socket under the arms to bring them up then by hand, not motor, move the rotors to see if anything is hitting.
