Rear end times difference's????

Hi

My first performance modification is going to be my rear. Right now l have the performance rear which is a 3.07 (auto).

What should the time be 0-60 with a stock 3.07 and the 3.53 and the 3.73.

l do not care about the top end because at 145mph l call it quits!!

My expert Vette guy maintains that the air flows so quickly through the area, that it has no time to heat up. gary does not BS, has at least four Vettes, plus a respected shop, the clientelle of local clubs, etc. I trust hardly no one with my car, but Gary has my full faith and confidence.

You're about to hear many claims to the contrary.

Most guys seem to be getting .3-.5 going from 2.59 to 3.54 or 3.73. So i figure youd get .3 sec off the stock 1/4mi.

Add a 2600 stall converter, and you could definitely break a high 12.

I just installed the 3.54 gear ratio on my car from the stock 2.59. What an awesome difference is all I can say. At 75 mph you're at about 2500 rpm in overdrive. I love the fact that the engine now winds up like it should. This is how covette's should have been made in the 1st place. I think the 3.54 is the perfect gearset esp. if your doing some highway driving. If you're looking fo mind blowing acceleration, it's the best way to go. I also purchased a custom PROM from Jeff and installed a pair of Magnaflow "true dual" wideopen mufflers. Wooee she kicks some serious butt now.

Hey Dave,
So you finally did it huh? I figured you'd love it once you got them in. I haven't heard anyone complain about doing the gear swap yet. It sure makes that LT1 wind up like it should. I'll bet the 1st time you kicked it you had that same silly grin on your face that I did :L
I've also found that for autox you can just put it in 2nd and focus on driving. You'll just be bouncing the rev limiter once in a while on the most open part of the course. Pulls strong all the time even after a turnaround.
