I have a 93 coupe. It has the stock 2.59 ratio rear end. A sport rear axle of 3.07 was available as an option. I'd like to consider replacing my 2.59. Does anyone have any experience with: 1. Change in rpm at say 80 mph. With the stock rear, the rpms are just over 2000 rpm. 2. Affect on gas mileage. 3. Most importantly, seat of the pants feeling and overall performance with the sport axle.

Any idea on how to proceed? Used carrier with 3.07 gears, re-build with new gears, rebuilt carrier, etc.?

Any thoughts on other ratios?

Also, any idea on cost?

Hwfcpa,
I'm moving this thread to the C4 Technical discussions forum, as your post doesn't indicate you have a C5 for sale. :)

If it were I, if I were going to go through the trouble of taking the rear end apart I would go to at least 3.42 range. I suspect you have an auto trans? I have the 3.07's in my "94", and wouldn't mind having a little taller gears.
