OK all, I'm looking for advice again. This week I FINALLY got my 79 on the road. It has been a long, slow process putting in my Kiesler 5-speed, new interior and true dual exhaust system. Coming home from work yesterday I decided to get off the x-way to drive the car a bit. When accelerating away from a stop light and turning left, I noticed a bit of a grinding sound coming from the rear. I'm thinking the worst - rear bearings! The car has 70000 miles on it and I am the second owner. The original owner gave me all of his documentation on the car, including when maintenance was performed. The original bearings are still on the rears. Is there a way I can check this out, BEFORE I take it to a mechanic? It looks like I now have a WINTER project!!!
All suggestions are appreciated.
