Question: Rear Hatch Kit

Hi Gang.....I wonder if anyone knows of a kit to make my 1981 Rear Hatch open.
I have been told that there were a few late model '81's that came with that option, which was offered in the '82 model. Is there a kit out there or would I have to find a '82 parts car with that option and have it installed by my Vette Mechanic? My C-3 was assembled in St. Louis. Thanks, Stevelg, Glendale, CA

There used to be a kit, but I think it's been out of production for years. You can put together the 82 CE parts and make the swap. Your biggest problem will be finding a good set of hinges.

Purchase the 82 assembly instruction manual. The AIM will list the parts needed for the hatch. Compare the CE installation to your 81 AIM and you'll have an idea of what the swap will require.
