Rear hub Question?

I have been told that the later (c-3) vettes had stronger hubs then the 65 did. What years had the better hubs? From what I was told the inner hub part is filled more (smaller opening with more metal).

Thanks
Chuck

This may not help, but my circa '76 parts book shows the same disk brake rear spindle (3872476) used for 65 to 76. Whether that's the same part number as the one that originally came on your 65, I cannot say.

The FRONT hubs/spindles/bearings were enlarged in '69, but I'm not aware of any changes in the rears.

Thanks for the info guys.

It was Tom's Differential that told me the rear hubs are thicker and stronger for the later models, I sent them mine to setup some offset trailing arms and was told I should upgrade to the later c-3 because the centers had more metal (less hollow in the center) than my 65 hubs). I did not see anything about this in any search I did. All part listing I saw show the same part for 65-82.

Thanks
Chuck

The rear bearing supports were changed in '75. Along with 3" halfshafts and larger strut rod bushings. All new replacement supports resemble the '76's but are based on the '75-'82 design.
