I am trying to remove the rear rotors on my 03 and the emerg. shoes seem to be wedged into the drum when i try to pull the rotor out? Can anyone tell me how to back these shoes off and safely remove the rotor.
Thanks all

no easy way best of luck Steve

Can you not back off the p - brake shoes by turning the adjusting nut?? Just reading my '04 manual.....

I am not sure on the 04 but there was no access to do it externally on the older cars steve

Well thanks for the advice. It took awhile but i got the rotor off and replaced the spring. Changed the rotors out to drilled and slotted.

Hi Black moon
I would be curious to know what was keeping the rotor from coming off? I replaced the rotors on our 97 with Vette Brake sloted rotors several years ago but did not adjust the (Parking brake) it used to be and emergency brake. Now I would like to go back and remove and adjust but do not want to go thru what happened to you.

Maybe I should ask this? What should I expect when i apply the parking brake. Right now the car will hold in drive at idle, and I can slow the car from a low speed ie 5MPH.
should I be looking for more?
Thanks

Everytime i tried pulling it off the shoe would wedge inside the rotor. I think the clip had come loose some time ago and with nothing holding the shoe against the hub it would come out with the rotor.

As far as what to expect, i have no idea. As long as mine keeps it from rolling when in neutral I'm happy.
