Ok Guys, this one is probably a no brainer but before I start to peel the weather stripping up, I just want to make sure. My rear view mirror is loose. Is the screw under ther weather stripping? It's an 86 convertible. Thanks---John.

I can't get a mental picture of mine when I did it, but there should be a set screw (torx?) on the underside of the attachment point. I don't think the screw is under the trim, but it might be. :L

On my 86 coupe, it's a phillips screw that holds the mirror assembly to the windshield header. it's right where the stalk meets the base. Take it all the way out and use lock-tite on it because it WILL work loose again.

Thanks, that is tomorrow's project. I am going to try to give her a ride tomorrow. It snowed and rained here yesterday. So the roads are pretty yucky right now. However I did see a C5 in yellow out Xmas shopping Yesterday, It looked like s#!^&.

Make sure you tighten the screw thoroughly.. My mirror came of one day and hung on the wire used for the courtesy lights.
Screws are often damaged by previous owners. Beter use a new one with a fresh head on it.

Boy oh boy, talk about a no brainer, I didn't see the screw the first time--it was covered by the wire. Thanks all.

OH, were all fixes so easy!!
