Just got off the phone with Chevrolet and they say that the anti deceling relay is discontinued. What do I do now? Is this thing really necessary? Can I straight wire passed this peice. Lectrilimited, Eckler's and ZIP have replied that they do not carry either of these 2 relays. To recap these are the 2 that are located right behind the passenger dash pad. The fan selector switch harness runs straight through these. If they don't work what do I do?

Is there a such thing as a generic relay? MY car is not and will never be NCRS I just want the blower motor to work. Can I somehow straight wire this stuff.

Thanks
Wade

Wade,

If you have these relays out and can take them to an Electronics Supply Store.. They may be able to match up another relay to fit in the same place with the same "A" "B" contacts.

I've used "Brill Electronics" in Oakland, CA with great success finding replacement relays for old equipment we still use in the Electrical Business ;)

Another great source would be to find an old Electronic Tech that can repair to the component level and ask him/her for some help, they usually can reproduce about anything and fix almost anything ;)

Good Luck and let us know how this project turns out ;)

(after thought) Another source would be to maybe send BURGLAR an email and see if can find a replacement for you or give you a cross reference number of another GM product that you may salvage the relays from ;) BURGLAR is a member here and a GM Parst type guy... he's help many members find that one special part ;)

Relays are Generic

Relays, like automotive bearings are generic and have a universal code to describe their form and function. With few exceptions, you can always purchase an automotive relay to fit your needs and the cost is usually less than $7.

Look at the bottom of the relay where the spades protrude. You should find numbers like:

30 (the power feed)
87 (the power output)
85 (ground)
86 (the "trigger" the switch the relay)

There are others but these are the most common.

What numbers are on the bottom of your relay?

Roy,

The only #'s I see are:

Anti dieseling = 6273301

Blocking = 3996204

Wade,

It would really be apperciated if you would reduce the size of you photo's... 1600 X 1200 is just a little bigger than what we recommend posting in the forums ;)
Here are the steps to use to post a picture. If you need help, we can help you.

1...The picture must be on a website of your choice (PhotoPoint) is a popular hosting site.
2...Please size it in pixels.. not to exceed 468 x 300 pixels and 30 KB in size.
photos around 500 x 450 aren't too bad either ;)

Thanks
Bud

Bud,

For What It's Worth...

Howdy Bud,

I know you were quoting from the help or FAQ section of CAC, but I figured I would mention that PhotoPoint was indeed great, but they went under about a year or so ago.

Since then I've been using www.photo.epson.com and it works great.
