Keyless entry was standard on all 1993 Corvettes. In fact 1993 was the first year for PKE (passive keyless entry). Unlike the remote entry of the C5 the PKE system didn't need human assistance to unlock the doors. The system had different antenna locations depending on if the car was a coupe or convertible.
Coupes had a large loop antenna in both doors and the rear hatch area. The key fob would transmit a signal that the "always searching" antenna system was looking for. When the fob was within approx 7 ft from the antenna, the system would disable the alarm, anti-theft system, unlock the doors, and activate the courtesy lights. When departing the car, once out of range the system would reset the alarm, ant-theft system, lock the doors and turn off the courtesy lights. One had to manually press the button on the fob to unlock the rear hatch.
Convertibles had antennas in the doors but not the rear area, since it had no hatch or trunk to need a signal for. Everything else worked the same as the coupe to my knowledge.
If yours isn't working, but you have the key fob, it may need one or more of the following: A new battery, or it may need to be re-programmed to the car, or both. Batteries are available wherever camera batteries are sold. I usually found mine at Wal-Mart. Sometimes all the battery needs is a wiping off of the contact area(s) on both the battery and the contacts inside the fob. Any clean dry cloth or paper towel will work on the battery, I use a small CLEAN pencil eraser to clean electrical contacts on electronic equipment, it works great.
