I am trying to remove the master cylinder on my 61. I removed the three bolts holding it to the firewall and was expecting it to come right out but no such luck. It seems to be held in by the cylinder shaft that hooks to the brake pedal. I tried to disconect the shaft from the brake pedal but couldn't get to come off. I didnt want to force it too far. The brake/clutch pedal assembly is loose but that is as far as I can get. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? Thanks all.

I found this information in the Corvette Service Guide:
