Has anyone done this recently? I am wondering if I should repaint each hinge in pieces or put it together then repaint. I don't want to scratch it all up reassembling, on the other hand it seems I wouldn't be able to coat all the surfaces with it assembled, catch 22. If you've done this, how did you go about it and how did it turn out?

I have the hinges on one side all apart and blasted clean and I have new springs, pins and bushings ready.

thanks

I would paint them first, then mount them in the hinge pillar. You can then touch up any place that needs it. Then, carefully slide the door on the hinge and align the door. Then you just need to touch up any place that got marred on that part of the hinge. Since the bolts are in the hinge pillar and door you can't see if they've marked up the hinge at all.
Regards,
Alan

Paint then first, then use a piece of nylon stocking over the bolt heads between the socket wrench to prevent dinging up the paint on the bolt head. Touch up as neccessary.
