I am looking at trying to make my exterior light brighter, the parking lights, tail lights, blinkers, brake lights, back up lights and even the head lights. Can I just get new blubs that are brighter? I know that different series blubs burn brighter but not might last as long, so what do think can I just get a new blub with the same base and a hotter fliment? Will this make my lights brighter?

interesting idea you have there. I suppose Radio shack lists the candle power for their bulbs. Wonder if LED lights are brighter.

Please keep in mind I have a 1981 ;) I'm not sure if this upgrade bulb number will work in your '76 ;)

This if from an old post elsewhere here at CAC ;)

..... . ...I installed the 140 mph speedometer. Since I had the tach and speedo out I went to Kragens and bought all new 5 watt bulbs (#2825). They sure don't give those away :eek and I'm not so sure they are really worth the extra $$$, but it is brighter than before, and noticebly brighter than the center cluster.

I found this site that lists halogen replacement bulbs for the standard 1157, 1156. A little pricey at 6$ each but I think I am going to get some for at least the tail lights and stop lights, what the help I will do the blinkers also.

I just installed the new Halogen bulbs in the tail lights and backup lights and all I can say is WOW what a difference, those of you that drive you C3 at night really need these bulbs they make you rear end a whole light brighter, which is a good thing for most of us, hehe.

PC: Thanks for the feedback and information re the Halogen tailight bulbs. It sounds as if it would be a worthwhile change from a safety standpoint. I intend to put that on my list of "to do's".
Increased lighting in the dash assembly area (speedometer, tach, etc) would be another improvement I would prefer. One of the things that I do not like about driving my car at night is the difficulty of clearly seeing all the gauges--compared to the "new" cars and their bright dash lights. But then, at least all my dash lights work as designed/intended in 1973!

There is thread in here about what part number bulb to replace your dash light with to make them brighter, I will try and find it. I plan on replacing my dash lights also but am waiting until I remove the upper dash to replace it, next month I hope.BEAT TEXAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,

hello, for those who don't want to spend the money for halogen. try using #2057 bulb.it will be brighter and heavier duty!
