I was contemplating putting new (loop) carpets in a 1958 corvette to replace the ones that were somewhat threadbare. Does this affect the value of the car ( the ones currently in look original) or wouldn’t it make much of a difference?

Hi Fred,

It really depends on the rest of the car. If it's all original and you would try to sell it, not having the orignal Daytona loop would have some effect to a buyer that is looking at it from a collector standpoint. If the car has other mods and you drive it and enjoy it a lot then the taller loop replacement carpet might just be the best way to go. Most people wouldn't know it isn't original. Even if it is an original car if you are not planning on selling it any time soon put in the less expensive carpet to make it look nice for now. You can always upgrade to original type Daytona loop carpet if you ever decide to sell it. New correct carpet at that time will make a difference.
