I'm looking into buying a 1990 vet. The owner just did the seats over in vinyl. I have not seen the car yet. Has anyone ever done this? Or seen this? does it look ok? The owner said she was talked out of leather due to its ability to crack. She claims the vinyl looks even better.

I personally wouldn't want vinyl in my vette if it didn't come with it since it deflates the value.
But if the price is right and it looks good then who's to know.

BTW do you remember what the old vinyl living room furniture felt like?:eek

I second sumoboy's opinion. I've seen vinyl seat covers in Corvettes and they look like vinyl. There is no mistaking the richness of leather seat covers. When properly cared for, leather seat covers can last for a long time.

Some years ago we replaced the black leather interior of our '85 coupe with saddle colored vinyl...it looked great, as unbelievable as that may sound!! It had the grained look of leather. Cost was the factor in our decision at the time, but we were pleased with our choice.

we looked at an 88 last year for my wife - had a "new leather interior"... it was clearly vinyl - my wife said absolutely NOT!!!
Sounds like one or two places may make a close match but by then, you may as well get leather IMO... :beer

I agree with the leather choice.I bought my 88 and someone had replaced it with vinyl.I never had liked it but didnt want to change it until it wore out.I bought new leather covers but havent had them installed yet.:beer

Well just let me tell you this, My C5 seats are 75% vinyl from the factory. only the very center of the seat bottom and seat back is Leather. Bolsters sides back all plastic. Most people go with vinyl because the leather is just to fragile.
