I have checked out this service, and it's pretty much a waste of money, unless you really want to know what dealer your car was at.

Otherwise you can get all the info you need right here.

Or you can order a build sheet from ecklers.

Mart,

This service is for cars that have no build sheets/tank stickers, not for cars that have a sticker with the option codes inside the console!

You're right that in your case it would be a waste of money. Didn't George tell you that when you called?

the problem is that without a copy of the invoice or the tank sticker, all you are able to get is a more or less generic "window sticker". there is a company that is actually authorized by GM to reproduce them, but they require a copy of the dealer invoice for a really "authentic" sticker reproduction. since there are no records for the earlier C3's it is almost impossible to get the necessary documentation. you can however get a window sticker that is made up to the specifications you provide (as far as dealer name, options, etc). i don't remember where i got the name of the authorized reproduction company, but i'll look around through my records and see if i can't find an invoice or something else that might help. in the meantime, there have been loads of posts and threads on this subject. try doing a seasrch on "window sticker" or "dealer invoice" to get started.

After posting this I did find the company your refering to.They do window stickers and build sheets for 81 and up.I also found a guy on ebay that sells blank build sheets and you fill it in.I wouldnt know the first thing about ho to fill one in.Thanks for the info,I know this is a touchy subject to the purist.

What would be the pourpose of a repro build sheet? A build sheet is supposed to verify what the factory built on the assembly line and supply some sort of provenance as to your cars original equiptment.

A repro build sheet shows what you want it to show as to the equiptment in your car. It is no more than your wish list and if you showed it to anyone but the dumbest of people they would laugh at it. If you were somehow able to convince someone that it meant something that would constitute fraud.

So my point is what is the point?

For the 69 its no wish list.It IS a matching # 390hp with side exhaust. She just wanted a build sheet to go with it.Trust me if I was using it as a wish list it would be a l88 matching # but Im not going to do that.
