In the process of a complete frame off restoration, and my first, looking over the bird cage there are some repairs that need to be done and clean access requires the front body section to be detached. From what I can see the biggest problem is locating all rivet points and separating the bonding glue points, any one have any tricks or pointers on separating the nose piece from the bird cage Firewall attachment?

My advice is never to remove a factory installed clip unless it is a 100% necessity and only then after thinking it over three or four times. Are you completely certain the repairs you want to make require the clip to be removed? Do you have the assembly instruction manual (AIM)? The AIM shows how the bird cage was welded up and how the clip was installed, including riveting/bonding the firewall in. Knowing how the car went together is usually helpful when taking it apart.

The windshield drain trough running down to the right side fender well is in poor condition. Looking at the replacement section would require cutting the birdcage section out below the fender area in this location
