1982 Collector Edition Corvette
82corvette.jpgHello to all...I have owned my Collectors Corvette for 26 years. It has pretty much been in storage for the majority of the last 16 years. I am
now doing some cosmetic upgrades and have a renewed intrest in it's history. When I bought it I was 25 years old. I could have cared less about what it was. All I knew was that it was a very pretty car and I was having fun driving it. When I started rasing my family, I had to put the car aside and opt for an SUV that could handle child car seats.:SLAP
My son is now 16, has his drivers licences and drove the car to Football practice tonight. :thumb
The car is still very pretty and still runs like it did before. It is all still original. It has 85,000 miles on it. I will probably never sell it because I do love it.:Steer
Well enough blabing....I'm here to look for as much information about the car that I can. My first question is a technical question. What suspension did they put in the 1982 Collectors Corvette. (It's awesome!) I always thought it was a McClarin....I think I might be wrong. Can anyone help me?;help

Glad to hear about your renewed interest in your vette! I'm sure your son is all teeth :D

Welcome to the CAC!! :w

Welcome to the :CAC

I can't help with your search for info about the 82 Collector Edition but we have a member in Germany that has had his for years. I sent him a PM with a link to this thread so hopefully he'll check in soon.

Good luck with your search!

welcome back to the corvette world!!!!
enjoy!!!

I believe the collectors edition has the same suspension as other 82's. The 82 was the first year to use a light weight composite rear spring. Other than that it's the same setup used on the Vette all the way back to 1963.

Some of the features that provide that handling are: a low center of gravity, good weight balance front to rear, independent rear suspension, and of coarse those nice wide tires.

Welcome to the CAC Forum, exstremski. :w
The suspension option for 1982 was the FE7 Gymkhana set-up.

The FE7 front spring and sway bar are the same as non FE7 with only the shocks being noted as a different part number.

The rear FE7 spring is 9 leaf 2-1/2 inch wide steel vs non FE7 composite mono and the FE7 addition of different shocks, 7/16 rear sway bar, and aluminum strut rods.

Nice car! Im glad you have been able to have it for so long. Enjoy it with your son, I plan on it with mine. welcome to the club.
