Ride Heigth

I just got the car inspected and back on the street. Does the ride height look ok in the picture? Or should it be lower in the rear? How do you lower the rear of the car? RLP

I could not see the picture, so I can't comment on how it looks.

If you want to change it, simply tighten or loosen the nuts on the long bolts on each extreme end of the rear leaf spring. If you tighten it, the car will sit higher, loosen, and it will sit lower. If your spring is getting worn and is too low no matter what, you can put some thick washers, or cut a piece of small metal pipe and shim it between the nut and the spring and it will raise the rear.

The picture is in my profile. How do you get the picture to appear next to your user name?
I will lower the rear a little. Thanks for the info. RLP

Wow, that car is high in the rear.

You will need to first save, and resize the picture. If you click on the update your profile option, you will be taken into the next page where you can changer your avatar.

Save it to the right size, then upload it.

Hi RLP

The pic of your vette made me smile...it reminded me of my '74 Camaro in college with the air shocks!

I think it is a good thing that you are leveling your vette. When I had my '74 'Maro raised in the back end, it brought up issues with cornering, tire wear and worn front steering components. The vehicles weren't designed to take that much weight tilted onto the front end.

About 28 - 29 " from the ground upto the lip of the fenderwell. Your ridn' a little high in the saddle there! And welcome to the CAC!!!!!!!!!

Hi Heidi, I had just bought the car from the Delmar swap meet in Houston. The owner had an idea of making a drag car{or tractor pull}. It has a 3.9 gear rear end and will need to be eventually changed back to stock. Randy

Heah RPL,
Good looking ride! I'm from Houston and have yet to make it to any of those swaps.I got mine earlier this year and now have an 81 as well that I'm just cleaning up to sell.
Maybe I'll see you on my way to New Bruanfels to go tubing next year if the river don't overflow again!
