I've got what i think is a right rear wheel bearing making a whineing noise , it has gotten worse in the last week or so . How hard a job is this and what can i do to make sure thats the problem for sure?

The wheel bearing itself is easy to check. Getting it isolated is not so easy. You will need to pull the axle shaft out of the center of it to get it free so you can feel it.
There will be some lumps or grinding in the bearing when you push in on it and rotate it if it's bad.
Replacing it will require some tools, like some Torx bits and a very large socket to remove the retaining nut on the axle shaft. The wheel bearing assembly is not cheap either, 700+ dollars at a dealership, or 270 dollars at Parts Plus. Don't go to a dealership unless you absolutely have to.
