Question: round holes in c1 body floor

not easily...there is one on each side, about 1/2 way between seat and firewall, closer to door than console, about 2" round...hope that helps

Those are drain holes, just like the ones in the storage wells behind the seats; they should have plastic pop-in "Caplugs" in them (Long Island Corvette Supply has the correct plugs). :)

thanks for the 411....but if they're capped, and under the carpet, when/how do they drain?

Their primary purpose was to drain water introduced during the wet-sand process after the first prime coat in the Paint Shop; their secondary purpose was to drain water that leaked into the finished car (after removing the seats and sill plates and lifting the carpet to get access to the front floor plugs).

These were also used during final assembly where the seats and carpets were not installed until there was a thorough water spray test to make sure the car was water tight. Any moisture collected could be emptied with those holes and then carpets and seats were installed.

My friend's 59 had a terrible leak and he was parked during a downpour. He had to remove both plugs as there was water standing above the carpets from the leaks. I would cover the holes with the plugs but I wouldn't fill the holes if it were my car. They might come in handy.

thanks, gerry.

I decided to cover them with a piece of metal, pop riveted on one side only, so it can spin and open the holes if need be...

Best wishes for 09.
