I am new to this site and this is my first post. I have a couple questions to ask.
My 2000, 6 speed, 68,000 mi, is running around 235 degrees causing the fan to come on alot. Fluid level fine, no trash, usually ran around 212 degrees. Any thoughts?

Mine usually runs 212 - 230F in summer weather. It sounds like you have already checked the radiator for any trash that may be blocking it. Have you changed the coolant at all? Could also be a t-stat starting to go.

Just tossing out some ideas.

Stacy,
First of all, welcome to the :CAC

I'm glad you found us. Regarding your running temperature...

...Could also be a t-stat starting to go.

Shan's sugguestion is the only one I could think of as an item to check.

HI there,
With 68,000 on the vehicle, it may be debris within the radiator that you cannot see.
That being said, a simple check would be to remove the upper shroud and look down in between the radiator and the condenser.
You might see somethings in there that could indicate simply dirt/debris restricting airflow.
This is common with higher mileage c5.

Just finished getting my 2000 fix with heating problems. The culprit, apparently air pockets in the system.

I had changed the thermostat. I checked the relays (even took it in check the motors on the fans). I even replaced about 2 gallons of antifreeze.

Went to a local mechanic who was aware of the air pockets (apparently the same for BMWs) and simply purged the system.

All is working great now.
