rusty side window frame--64 Vette

I thought I would post this here for a co-worker of mine with a 64 Coupe in need of some help.

The car is starting to rust rather bad in the body side channel up and around the roof portion of the door jam. I removed the glove box and got a good look up in the interior cowl/bird cage area. You can see rust, but nothing too scary.

She wants to get the car repainted soon and get this rust removed.

My best guess is the roof has to be cut off the car, lower door jams removed, and the front glass and doors removed to gain access to this area.

Are these parts available, is this a common problem?

The rest of the metal in the car looks perfect.

Yes the parts are available, but depending on the extensiveness and location of the damage, it may be possible to weld in repairs.
