I had an opportunity to see several used C5s today. One thing that shocked me is 2 out of 3 that I saw had saggy driver's doors. You had to really put some butt behind the swing to get the door to close. What an amazement considering how smooth and nice they close when they are new. These were fairly low mile cars.

Does anybody here have that problem?

Hi there,
I have replaced a few, however, I noticed one thing.
Everyone that I have replaced, has been dry, with no lubricant on any point of the hinge.
Those that are maintained regularly, per service manual indications, usually have not had any problems with.
Just what I see in my service of Corvette, although, others may not agree.

Thanks for the tip then. I will make sure and give Nikki's a good shot of some lube when I change her oil in a few days.

c4c5 specialist, What do you recommend we use to lube the door? Is WD-40 good or should I use something else. I have always used WD-40 for my cars and do it once a month.

Hi Dan,
Well, any lubricant is better than none at all.
I always use GM Superlube, p/n 12346241 in USA, 10953474 in Canada.
This is what GM states to use on all hinge assemblies.
