hello, i have to sand an edge on my hood. i am wondering if there is a trick 'easy' way to get a nice straight edge. i was going to use a block of wood/sandpaper...help me make it easier

When I sanded my car...I used a paint stick with wet paper wrapped around it.

thanks jon, that sound like a good idea. i need to be careful and take my time.if i can get the edge straight i can get my new hood mounted this weekend.....so close, yet so far away

Robin,
I saw a guy doing an edge on an old car the other night on one of those car shows - Overhaulin', CCR or something.
What he did was put a piece of masking tape on one side, sand along the line, remove the tape, switch to the other side and sand it. He did this so that he didn't remove any material from the opposite side and keeping the tape straight kept the line straight.
May apply in your case, may not!

Good luck!

I can't really take the credit...I saw this guy use it.

in between all my oter home projects i did find a small bit of Corvette time. i made a straight line with a wax pencil.then taped along that line as a guide. using my DA i carefully went back and forth on the line working towards the tape line.
using #150 paper it is slowly taking off material getting me closer to the amount i need to remove. i am taking my time so i can keep a good line and the contours will stay consistant.
