1967 - new 502 with clutch, Lakewood scattershield and clutch fork installed.

What is the correct procedure for adjusting the clutch fork pivot on a Lakewood scattershield? Or, to put it another way, what height adjustment am I looking for in relation to what?

The key is installing the through out bearing correctly. Study the shop manual carefully, it doesn't install like you would think.

Again Your over my head with the questions but I will pul down my old lakewood scatter sheild and see if it can show me anything.

Depends on the height of the fingers on the clutch you use - the pressure plate manufacturer should specify a dimension from the flywheel surface to the tip of the fork pivot ball; if you have a Centerforce, it's in the instruction package.

Of course... :duh ......as I'm still waiting on the flywheel (tomorrow I think) I haven't dug into the pressure plate box.

Headed for the garage....

Thanks.

As penance for missing the obvious (instruction sheet in the pressure plate box) I'll post them here to help others. The instructions are from CenterForce.

Thanks again, John.

Wow, great info! Thanks for posting it '67Heaven. I rebuilt my Muncie on Sunday and was going to install it tonight. But as I installed the new release bearing, I noticed one of the tabs missing on the fork. Gotta get a new one tomorrow. After reading this thread and since I have a Lakewood and Centerforce I had to go back under the car and check the measurement. Measuring with the clutch and pressure plate installed, it's close enough to the 4.75" for me. When I pull the engine & trans this winter, I will have to check the othe measurements as well. Thanks again.
