I am looking at purchasing a 2003 and it seems the scraping of the underside to high points in the road is a bit more than normal. Does anyone know of the clearance that should be expected or if there is something abnormal with this car? Thanks.

Some owners feel that the gap between the top of the tires and the fenders is too great and lower their Vettes... sometimes on the stock bolts and sometimes by other modifications. Yours may have been lowered by the current or a previous owner.

Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the size of the space between the 2 on a stock non-lowered C5.

My reply will keep your thread near the top of the heap and hopefully someone who knows the difference will chime in soon.

BTW... welcome to the :CAC

Welcome to CAC. As far as I know, my 2002 Coupe is stock height. If you let me know what dimension you want measured, I'll go measure that distance on mine.

BTW, I don't have issues with scraping on a normal road, but parking lot speed bumps are fun and by all means.....stay back from those parking stops!!!!;LOL

Dennis, Thanks for volunteering to take the measurement however I have abandoned purchasing the car. The lower rubber piece on the underside of the front was less than 2 inches off the surface of the road and it would scrape when you turned an uphill corner. I believe somebody lowered the front end and I decided to look elsewhere for my dream car. Thanks again, Bill.

Mine sets at stock hight, the air dam is at 3 1/2 inches from the floor!!:thumbJust because it's been lowered a little in the front don't make it a bad car!! It isn't something that a jack, open end wrench, socket, ratchet and 10 minutes won't fix!!:thumb:thumb:thumb

Ground clearance . . .

My 2003 is totally stock, and the clearance between the bottom of the Air Dam and the roadway is 2.75 - 80 inches. The space between the wheel well and the top of the tire is 3 " even. hopes it helps.:thumb

I thought they all rubbed in the front! Mine does just going out my drive way due to the drop of the curb. Good thing the front air dam is spring loaded, got to think GM did think this out some :L
