I bought a 75 vette some time ago and recently took the covers off my seats to see why they wouldnt sit strait. I knew the frame was broken but when i took the cover off I saw one seat was broken in 2 places and the other broken in 3. It had been welded and broken again. Needless to say these seats are trashed. I want some nice replacement seats without spending a fortune. What other seats will fit in my vette, is there something more comftorable and better looking that will fit easily in my vette? Thanks for any help.

The 78 - 82 seats are supposed to be better and an easy fit. Others have put the C4 seats in with limited modifications.

There are after market seats that fit as well but the choices are limited due to the width of the seats. I was told that alot of them would contact the arm rests.

Also, whether or not they will work depends on your waist size. They are for the svelte individual. The ones I looked at recommended up to 34 and 36 inch waist lines. I have a 38 inch waist and couldn't use the. They were tight and uncomfortable.

Crossbones, I believe that late model C3 seats, 78-82 are a direct bolt in replacement for the early model seats. I am not sure where you get some cheap, but there are lots of Corvette salavage places that will ship you seats, also do a search in this forum on seats and you will find lots of info.

Seats

Greetings from Arizona:
I put a set of 78-82 seats in my 74 coupe and have the original, undamaged seats covered up in the garage--they've been recovered with "leather-like" black vinyl and I'd be willing to sell them reasonably, but am somewhat chagrinned on how to package and ship.

The newer seats provide much better support, but sit an inch or more higher in the car. Additionally, only 2 of the bolt holes line up--the rears need to be re-drilled.

We're replacing the carpets, lining the floor with Reflectix, putting on new door panels, upgrading the stereo and putting in Simpson belts [as soon as I can figure out how to anchor the shoulder harnesses] so the newer style seats seemed like a good addition.

Rollie have you pulled the original belts out? think of an upside down U from wheelwell top to wheelwell top. leave appx 1 inch below the lower window trim.
then put a tab on each side for a brace to connect just ahead of the well on each side.
rough idea of what i want but no time...also mild square tubing will make it fairly inexpensive

Great Idea !

Thanks Robin - -that's an excellent idea - -I sure wish I had your talent for fabrication ! There were no shoulder belts when I bought the car, but the original lap belts are still in place. I was hoping once we got everything out of the interior that I'd have some kind of epiphany on how to anchor the Simpson shoulder harnesses short of plunking down $300 for the Shark Bar!

Of course, I also had planned on doing all this last winter before it got to be 110 degrees out here !

Thanks for the advice -

anyone tried these

Has anyone tried any of the seats off this website

www.seats4cars.com

I asked them a few questions over email (are they comfy, how well do they fit) and of corse they told me they were very comfy and fit great but they want to sell seats. Anyone had any experiences with them and their vette?

The drivers seat, on my 75, was leaning towards the center of the car. I found that one of the pegs, that support the seat back, was missing its rubber pad. Also that the pegs are adjustable like the legs on a pool table. Replaced rubber and adjusted pegs, problem gone.
