Bought a set of seats for a 72' back has the belt bezel....tracks have the double bolt holes , side by side at rear, picked up a set out of a 76 cheap at a swap meet....went to actually bolt the 72 tracks in , and if i put the front bolts in , there are no holes for the rear, and it looks like they atually sit in the way of the seat belt bar.. So i looked at the tracks from the 76. And they fit?...wth?
The rear bolt hole actually lines up with the inner hole on the track, the oblong hole. Whas up? Nothing looks un original....

Interesting...other than the obvious track locations, any way to tell? Cant seem to find any pics

do you have a factory service manual,or a assembly instruction manual????
they would be most helpful in your repairs!!!!
If not you should consider investing in them they are the bibles to the vette enthusiast for repairing our corvettes!
they can be purchased from any corvette vender.

if you put the seat tracks from the 72 next to the 76 do all the holes match????
if yes you can use them,if not you need to get the correct ones.

Did some reading, yes i have an assy manual, it shows 72 short style slides.
read where there was a change to the long end mount slide in 72 due to r tractable belt under the seat, late year? The long slide is necessary to clear the belt bar. The short 72 style would mount right in the middle..almost.. Of the bar..so it wont fit.
Iwould also guess they were not retractable before ? Otherwise, why have the belt holder on the front of the seat?
here is mine.it original, nothing has been drilled to fit, all the under pan reinforcements line up with the holes..

Around that time frame the car makers started making 1 piece seat belts that would retract. Prior to that they were 2 piece belts, some would hook together and then hook into the belt fastener,
Yours may fall into the latter, check your manual, it should tell you.
