Its been so long since I have driven then car and even when I had it I didn't drive it much but for the life of me I can't remember. Does the upper seat back some how lock up if you slam the brakes on or does it just propel you forward into the steering wheel? I am thinking the latter.

Progress is being made cept another a minor set back last night. The tranny we got has its "ears" cut off so Rick will have to drill a hole onto either side. Funny we have had that thing here for almost 2 years and it wasn't until last night that he realized it. With May coming up its hard to imagine it will be ready for the blessing of the vettes event. Esp with my Taurus husband who is the paint master! Last night I noticed that he had painted some bolts gold and they aren't even visible. They are the bolts that connect the tranny to the engine so I don't think anyone will even notice them. But he said he will! LOL

For those who don't know my old neighbor backed into the vette the first month I owned it and I took the money and have used it for parts. I don't know that I want to wait to have it painted this year esp since my husband has his own cars to work on it but the damage on the driver door sticks out and it bugs me. So I found a decal to go over it so if you see me at any shows don't be hatin' its only temporary! I'll post pix once its on.

Yes there are little metal weights in the hinge assm that are supposed to stop the seat on impact. Most have failed and dont work.

It should lock under braking. Either way, it won't fall forward unless you lean forward. The force of stopping suddenly will propel you forward unless you have a shoulder restraint, not the force of the seat back.

...It should lock under braking...

I agree. Under braking, the seat backs will lock; Ditto for the shoulder belts; they have inertial reels in them. The combination of backs and belts locking is supposed to keep you in your seat.
