I was looking at some new leather seats online, from Wilcox wholesale. Has anyone ever bought seats (the completed set) from them? Also I wanted to see if anyone knew what seats are recommended for 1981, 2 or 4 inch design. Looks like a heck of a deal as compared to Ecklers or Corvette Central.

Year One just came out with their first corvette catalog in April. I ordered mine off their website and for a limited time they are free. Haven't really compared any prices yet, but it's another good source for parts. As far as 2" or 4" seats, IMHO that's going to be personal preference. I find the 2" more comfortable as I'm a bit broader than in my younger days. :eyerole

i have dealt with wilcox and have found them to be very reliable and helpful. i think their quality is excellent and have never been less than completely satisfied. they don't use voice mail/ menu selections, etc. you call, they answer the darn phone!! as far as 2" or 4" it is a matter of personal preference as previously stated. i agree, however that at this point in time in my life (and girth, lol) 2" bolsters are a lot more comfortable getting into and out of, lol.

I bought mine off Willcox...actually I only deal with Willcox. I compaired prices they were the best. The quality is excellent. I used my old foams. I suggest you buy the ones already on the foam. Just drop them in. Messing around with those "hog ties" is tricky.

FWIW Hog ties are the oval clips used to fasten the covers to the frame rodes which holds the covers to the foam.

Thanks for all of the replies. I am not really sure what 2" or 4" refers to. I've had to re-read Tritiums post several times. I thought he referred to the seats as being free. Sign me up!

Hey Lance,
The bolster refers to the size of the side of the seat - the vinyl part. 2" is pretty much standard, from what I hear the 4 inchers are for really lean people (women) I got covers mounted on new foam from Wilcox earlier this year for like $549 + 20 shipping, $200 cheaper than Eckler's or Corvette America. Oh, and they were here in about 3 days from when I ordered them. SRS244 and JDP6000 are bang on with the advice. Just my 'experience'

Sorry LanceB, the corvette catalog from Year One was free. They actually charge for their other catalogs, but since this is the first vette one they offered, they're giving them away as a promotion.

I purchased a carpet set, console sides (mine were trashed), mounted seat cushions, rear compartment door frames and a parking brake cover from Wilcox for my Winter interior re-do project. All were much less expensive than the mail order places and very good quality and they are great to work with. I will be buying more from them for next Winter's projects. They carry all sorts of parts, not just interiors.

I ordered the 4" bolsters before I had seen various threads on CAC about the 2" vs. 4". I wish I had gotten the 2" but once the new foam started breaking in the larger ones aren't too bad. They definetely hold you in the seat.

Lance,

Wilcox will not do you wrong. I have dealt directly with Norm and Tommy (the owner) for almost a year now. They are very honest, full of knowledge, friendly, and have the best prices around!

If anyone gets t Carlisle, While I was their last year, I'm not sure of the vendor, but they had a large tent setup where employees of the vendor were actually covering seats so you could see the work in progress. As a matter of fact, you could get your seats done right their and then. You would give your keys to the vendor or your seats if u wanted to take them out, and while you walked around Carlisle for the day, they would cover them and reinstall. I can't remember the exact price, but iI do remember thinking.."if i only had more money"

the vendor that sells and also installs at Carlisle is http://www.alknochinteriors.com/
they offer the best, highest quality interior pieces available for Vettes. the materials, fit and finish are top notch. i'd say more top-flight cars are using Al Knoch interiors than any other vendor.
i can't answer for later model cars, but for the C1's, C2's and early C3's the AK interiors are so good that most people don't even consider any other option or vendor.

their online catalog on their website is currently being redone so you will need to call them for pricing.

good luck
