I drove one of my daughters to a birthday party in the Z. And as soon as she got out and closed the door the security alarm started going off which totally disables the car. I didn't know how to clear it. Finally a pakistani nieghbor came over and said just manually lock and unlock the door with the key and that will clear it. And sure enough it did. I didn't know that. I can work on anything machanical. But when it comes to electric not so good. He gave me his card and said I do this for a living. He has his own shop. I said thanks and was on my way.

the other way , is to allways have a 5/16 bos end wrench and disconnect the battery for a couple of minutes . i have a pair of vise grips as my terminals are a little rounded .:D

Later on that night I found out what was setting the alarm off. My interior lights were flickering on and off so I knew it had something to do with the door switch. The little plastic botton that snapps into the inside door sil that makes contact with the door switch was worn down a bit. So I took an old credit card and cut a washer out of it and snapped it in behind the plastic piec in the door sil to make it thicker and whalah. Another shade tree mechanic fix.
