Separation anxiety?

Warren, I've been contemplating the same move. What do you miss about the C4 the most? Is the performance of a C5 that much better than a C4? I've been looking for something in the 99-01 range, but I really like the way my C4 feels. Kinda don't know what I want I guess. :confused

Its alot of small things -
The C4 fit in my garage better being
The C4 was an A4, so i could just drive with my toes on the pedals and my elbow on the door sill. I love driving with the roof off, but in the C5, I need to have the seat much closer so i can depress the clutch all the way so my head is really close to the windshield. My C5 scrapes on every speed bump and driveway in my area.

The C5 riders much better though, and my teeth dont rattle over bumps. My 95 was my first Vette and I bought it for myself after going through 9/11, mostly an emotional connection. I guess after a few weeks in the C5 I will like more.

My advice is to drive a C5 for more than just a 15 minuite test drive before you decide. The C5 feels much stronger power wise.

Warren,

I noticed the different vehicle described in your member information earlier this morning and meant to ask about it.

Aside from that thread Ken posted a link to, I can also relate my experiences going from a C4 (my '91 Coupe) to a C5. There are definately things about the C4 I miss- the storage areas right behind the seats that you could access from the seats, the way the C4's had an instrument cluster that seemed more coqkpit like (mispelling intentional, or the word would have been censored), the way the seats seemed better designed to hold you in place. I even miss the old "cinch" button on the seatbelts.

After a couple of months of ownership, though, I realized the tradeoffs I was getting meant more to me- my Z06 is a quantum leap above my old '91 in terms of ride and handling. In the end, I decided the reason I wanted a Corvette was for the performance, and Z06 is just a better performer. I do sometimes wish there was a way I could have been able to keep both cars, but I don't regret my upgrade.

I think you and your new '99 just need some "zen" time together. You had invested a lot of time and effort in putting stuff into that '95, and you can't just put a monetary value on all that hard work. Look at this way: now you can start doing the same thing with the '99.

Alot of discussion on this topic recently. Yeah, I'm kickin' my butt that I got rid of my '84. As I've said in other posts, I like the '97 but I miss the "feel" of the stiffer '84.

I guess I got lucky and still have some time with my 85' before it sells to emotionally part with it. I haven't driven it since I got the C5 but at least it's there to shed a tear over in the meantime. It was a cool car but honestly I just love the C5.

Richard.
