Okay guys, I need some opinions here. I purchased a Hurst shift kit for the TH400 in my '75. This kit has four options for shift firmness. I will outline these below:
Full Competition - Track only: Not recommended for street use. Will not hold back in first gear.
Full Competition Street & Strip
Street Competition
Normal Street Driving - Positive Shifts for towing light loads
Normal Street Driving - Positive Shifts for towing heavy loads
Okay, the first option is obviously out. This is a street driven machine, although infrequently. The tranny is bone stock right now, but it still gets scratch (although small) hitting second gear when you nail it. The last two are irrelevant. I won't be towing anything, obviously.
So, that leaves option two and three. There is no description of these two options in the instruction sheet. I would like an extremly hard shift from first to second, which makes me think about option two. However, I don't want to sacrifice drivability, so I'm worried that may be too aggresive.
Does anyone have any experience that may help me out here? I really don't want to have to do this twice . . .
Thanks, Ron
