Help! Shift knob removal

Hi
Sorry I feel like I am asking a rookie question, but before I go in and do damage I thought I would ask.
I have a 1965 roadster and the shift knob is a little rough and I want to change it. I looked at the schematics and I think it appears to screw of but its not totally clear. So before I do something I may regret I thought I would ask for help.
Question, how do I remove the knob?

Yes. it screws off.
