I got my KYB "Gas-A-Just shocks delivered and have two questions.
1. Some where on the internet I read the torque spec for bolting in the shocks and I'll be darned if I can find it again. Seems to me it was 60 ft lbs. Does anyone know ?
(I did get an answer on the torque question from someone but I'll take any other opinions and also answers on question #2)
;help

2. Is it better to have the car on jack stands or have the weight of the car on the ground in order to compress the old shocks.

Any other tips would be helpful.

Thanks, Mark

AIM says 30-40 ft-lbs for lower rear ("must be tightened with vehicle at curb height"), 40-60 ft-lbs for upper rear. Fronts are 100-132 in-lbs top & bottom. Gotta admit I don't use a torque wrench on mine.

Aside from the note about tightening the lower rears, I don't think the position of the car & wheels matters when you install shocks, since the shocks don't "pull" in either direction, except that the rear wheels will hang very low (pushed down by the spring, perhaps even to the point of being stopped by reaching max shock extension), if the rear is lifted until the wheels are off the ground. "Curb height", as when sitting on a drive-on lift or car ramps, is probably the best working position.
