So Corvette Central has the 68-82 Shop Manual as well as Shop manuals for each year which are significantly more expensive than the 68-82. And it actually says that "most information in these manuals [year specific ones] can be found in the 68-82 Shop Manual..."

So, is this true? I have an 81. What's my best bet...spend the extra dough and get the 81 Shop Manual or go with the 68-82 Shop Manual. I already have the Chiltons and Haynes and 81 Assembly Manual.

Thanks as always!

If you already have the haynes and chilton, i would defiantly go with the GM 81 Shop Manual. Check ebay, i picked mine up cheap (25).

Yep, "81 Corvette" is spot on. I've had my "work in progress/'81" for less than three months and all ready have saved myself considerable grief by getting the correct year book. I had access to a 1979 book, but there were significant changes (in wiring at least) between '79 and '81. The best bet is to get the right year.

Good Luck,

Get the year specific Factory Service/Shop manual for your car. The only one to have. The multi year ones are too general as they try to cover too many years in too few pages. Also get the Assembly Instruction Manual (AIM). Those are the only ones you need.
