Question: Short Throw Shifter Kit - 1986 4+3 Manual

The short throw shifter kits that are available from Eckler's, Mid-America, etc. for $19.99, are they easy to install? Do you install from underneath the car, or do you go in from the top after removing the shift boot and stuff in that area?
