Shorter belt to bypass A/C ??

I'm doing everything I can think of to get a few extra HP out of my car before I go to the track in a few weeks. Has anyone bypassed the A/C unit with a shorter belt? I've done it on an L98 car before and it worked flawlessly.....but have never seen it done on an LT5? Any opinions or suggestions?
