Shorty Headers for 79 w/ L82, 4 spd

[78 L82 4spd]

Howdy, all:

I came across these on shorty headers on eBay. Does anyone know if they are drop-in to a stock exhaust system? For the time being, I just want to replace the stock cast exhaust manifolds.

I can't answer your question but wonder why you want to make the change. The ram horns are pretty good for stock manifolds and I don't think you'll get anything out of this change. I understand that shorty headers aren't an improvement.

You would have to alter or replace the factory header/exhaust pipes where they join the headers,so they would'nt exactly be a 'drop in'.

Bob - thanks for your reply. I agree that they do not look like much of an improvement. Unfortunately, I have a cracke manifold and was trying to get out cheap!!!

Dave - thanks for feedback too. I questioned it's location as compared to the stock manifolds. I suspected it would be some modification.

Anyway, a friend of mine has an unused pair that he can bring over for a "visual check". If there is anything significant, I'll post it.
