Been thinkin about getting Corvette America's C5 speedhatch. Did a 'lil bitta photoshoppin to get some perspective. Whatta y'all think?

I toyed around with that idea for awhile. I finally decided that I didn't like the look from above the rear deck - it sits a little too high for my tastes.

Since you're asking for opinions, I think it looks goofy. The car looks unfinished with that thing on it. My guess is that it makes the car much noisier as well. Not my taste at all.

I agree. It doesn't fit, but that is just my opinion.

Hey Vee, I guess the feel would be a bit different. More like a convertible. Lots more air. I always liked the fact that with just the targa removed there is lots less air then in a convert. Everybody has their own opinion. The C4 is a great looking car just as it is....I think any external mods do not enhance it's appearance...it's already been thought of! Good Luck in your decision!

Thanks for the feedback Vettebuds!
Keep in mind now....., that my photoshoppin' is just the removal of the rear window and the targa top. I couldn't quite get the "hump effect" I was going for to illustrate Corvette America's C5 speedster hatch tonneau cover.

I've seen C.A.'s Converti-Coupe installed on a friends's black '95. Looks good.

But I think I'm gonna contact C.A. and ask for a detailed image of the thing actually installed on a coupe before I go through the expense of purchase, paint and installation.

:ugh :( No........Leave it alone

I think maybe a lot depends on the color of the car it is installed on. I've seen it on a silver C4 with black interior and ground effects package (which I personally do not care for) and the whole package looked good. I've seen others and not so good. Maybe there is more than one manufacturer/distributor with slightly different design(s)?

Hey Vee93,

I'm thinking of doing something very similar. There are other places to get the targa hatches so look around. ACI is the company that actually makes them for Corvette America I do believe, I had a link to them somewhere but can't seem to find it. Another place is over on the other side of 'Nawlins ... Des Allemands. www.vanacorvette.com they actually have a few different styles, I haven't seen the quality of their 'glass but I do like the look.

Hey y'all..., still doing me some thinking.....
And thanks Hrtbeat1..., I checked the information hi-way and found websites for Vanacorvette and other aftermarket fiberglass manufacturers.

How high, Ken? I can't find a decent enough image to get a good perspective. Whattya think it'll do as far as body flexing?

Tnovot, my '93 is med. quasar blue metallic--that's it in my signature box. As long as my mod can be undone I'm more willing to try something new. No stadium bleacher wing, spinner rims or junk like that, just something a little different.

And yeah, Robertwav1--the C4 is a great looking car. But was EVERYTHING thought of.., I don't know about that. Wished they'd've asked my opinion (really, don't we all), I could've given 'em some ideas on a coupla things, i.e., opti-spark :nono, water collecting in the rear window sills :nono, should've come with interior sill covers, better looking rims, bigger rear compartment, body matching color on seats, etc. I'm thinking about getting the MidAmerica seat package too someday.

Anyway, thanks to all for your input. I'll let ya know. :Steer

Oh, I don't know, it's got about two inches or so of a "hump" to it. ;shrug

It has no effect whatsoever as far as body flex goes. The C4 can't flex much more than it already does, and your '93 should be pretty tight to begin with - much tighter than the early C4s. ;)

I believe the way to personalize a Corvette is with the paint and trim and not modify the body because if you go to sell it , the market is small for modified Corvettes....
Just a thought.....but make as you want,, after all it is your machine
:)
good luck
Mike
