I visited the most super place in this world today! One of our retired employees owns storage property in downtown Phoenix (Az.). He has bought cars/trucks from all our employees for the last 60 years as they fell on hard luck for pennies on the dollar (every make and model imaginable!).

I saw every muscle car every built, Mopar hemis (several), Ford 427 side oilers (several), LS-6 Chevelles (several) and every year Chevy muscle car every built including a 57 fuel injected Shoebox!

He just drove them onto his lot and parked them!

He told me nothing is for sale until he dies.

I found a 1968 Corvette, big block, aluminum heads, 4 barrel, four speed, T-tops with a TREE growing through it!!!!!!!!!!!! Soo sad!!!!!!

He will not budge on selling anything. He only let me in to his yard to photograph a pristine 1966 Caprice with a 427 for info as that is what I am restoring.

I have talked to his son and he says "When Dad passes, I will take 1 Million for what is on the property as the property is worth 200-400 million!

I hate to say it but, I have first right of refusal on the vehicles and property!

I hope Leonard lives a long life and I hope I am still around to inherit all these treasures (as tough as this bird is, he might outlive me!).

Sounds like a very intereseting place to visit. Did you happen to squeeze off any extra shots while you were in there that you can share with us?

Had found a 66 fastback Mustang on the internet. After driving for 5 hours to an out of the way small town in Mass, I met these 2 guys at a warehouse...real run down area...starting to think that this could get ugly if somethig went bad...I had about $5,000 in cah on me.

Anyhow, these guys turn out to be incredibly nice guys...real gearheads from the early 60's vintage. When we opened up the barn...not only was their a 66 Fastback...they had a 68 or 69 427 tri-power Vette, a 63 Split window, a 65 Vette convertible....all left there to rust. The guy ended up selling the car out from under me to a buddy..no hard feelings...but I 'stalked' him to buy that Vette...he simply wasn't wasn't intereted..

I grew up on a farm in NJ. On the farm was my grandparents, my family, and my uncles family. My grandmother still owns it and in one of the storage sheds mixed in with all the John Deere tractors, balers, etc are two cars my cousins left there and have been sitting for years.
first is a '73 Vette my cousins husband had in college and than totalled it. he bought the wreck back from the insurance company and had it completely rebuilt and motor rebuilt but than ran out of money and it's been sitting there for 20 years under a car cover with the interior still completely gutted. about 12-15 years ago a hay baler got accidently backed into the front fender and cracked the new fiberglass but it's not too bad and can be fixed but the car continues to sit there.
Next to the Vette is another cousins '69 Mustang Mach 1. He got it from his older brother when he upgraded his ride to a Vette. after driving the 'stang for about 3 years he parked it when he got a new pick-up and it's been sitting ever since for about 15 years.

Whenever I go back to the farm to visit my grandmother I look in the shed and the cars are always still there collecting more dust.
I'd make an offer and try to buy one or both to fix up (my wife is a Mustang nut) but because of family issues my family doesn't talk to my uncles family anymore. Even if I could convince my cousins to sell the cars I think if I bought them my mother wouldn't talk to me for the rest of my life because of who they would have come from ;LOL

Who knows how long these cars will keep sitting there.............

what a shame, 2 true barn finds on my own families property and I'll probably never be able to get hold of these cars.

and one more for the unknown yards just a sittin there. in Tehachapi CA. theres a auto parts (wreckin yard) over 10 acers thats been sittin (not active) scence the late sixtys or early seventys. the owner had a runin with the city officials and just locked the doors . he told me he cant legaly sell anything or the city will come after him. :cry . its like taking a walk back in time. at the time I was into 59 Chevys. and theres so many out there. made me almost cry. there was several 348. with 3 dueces. :cry :ugh .
Oh well :w save the wave
