Spent a couple of hours today getting all the crude off my side exhausts on my 67 coupe. They are clean, but not very shiny. Anyone like to share their techniques for bringing up the luster?

locally we have this cotton wadded stuff in a can.I used to use that on the exsposed shiney metal,And never touched the painted areas. With my new covers I have not touched them yet

The stuff Larry's referring to is "Nevr-Dull", now sold under the "Eagle One" brand - treated cotton wadding in a can, very mild abrasive. Be careful with whatever you use - the covers are anodized, and it doesn't take much to remove it; once that coating is gone, they'll oxidize and get dull in a hurry. I'd use detergents and mild solvents before I'd use any kind of abrasive on them.
