I came out to my car this afternoon and the drivers side mirror was loose and swinging easily on the shaft. I carefully pulled the mirror off and then unscrewed the trunion. What I found was that the retaining clip popped off the shaft above the spring.
How should I go about compressing the spring in order to get the clip back on? (Its not broken- just popped off!) Must I purchase a new mirror assembly? It appears that all I need to do is to compress the spring somehow. Do I just need a really big clamp?
Help please- I don't want to shell out a lot of bucks on a new assembly!!!
