HELP!!! Where can I find 2 1/2 inch side pipe and covers to fit a 1966? Also trying to find a big block hood for a 67'. Any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks.:confused

Depending on what you want.....Repro hoods are sold almost everywhere from Mid America to Corvette Central whatever you have.

Side exhaust also depending on what you wnat. Probably would try Allens....they offer total sets..even in stainless.

pipes

Thanks for the info but I can't find a listing for allens.

I would not get a side pipe covers unless I could inspect them in person and pick them up.I purchased a new set of covers and they had a defective finish on them The supplier took them back no questions asked but I had to pay the shipping one way.

I then waited till august and went on a mission at corvettes of carlilse last year and out of all the vendors only 3 would allow me to open and inspect them.I went thru about 5 sets of covers between the 3 vendors untill I found a perfect set. Some people may say I am picky but the money I was paying I wanted perfect!

The set I purchased was from paragon reproductions. The flaws were tiny scratches in the fine metal on the cover and also imperfect coloring on the argent paint.

Good luck the muffler pipes should be a breeze

Yes they are

I just received the side pipes insulator for one side on my '67 and a few other "goodies" from Paragon.
Everything arrived just fine.
Their customer service people were also very pleasant to talk to.

I would recommend them.

Their Toll Free number is: (800) 882-4688

Good Luck,

Pedro

By the way, I see that you're new here...welcome!
There are a bunch of nice people here.

This is a great place!

Pedro

Thanks for all the great info guys. I'll try paragon for the covers.

I went through the side pipe replacement ordeal about a year ago with my 67. For me, and I'm sure you will agree, the best part about side exhaust is the awesome sound. In my opinion, the replacement pipes from Allens, etc. don't have the same sound quality as the original GM pipes. Chalk it up to differences in materials, construction, design.... I don't know, but they just don't sound the same.

I bought two sets of original GM pipes and replacement covers from Richard at Long Island Corvette Supply 516-885-3000. I was (am) extremely happy with both the pipes and the covers. The pipes came in the GM boxes and had the GM part number tags attached, and also stamped.

I don't know if there are any more left, but I would highly recommend that you try to find a set of original pipes. I know you will be happier for the effort. Best of luck to you!!!

A good advantage is also that it keeps the heat outside the passenger room. The pipes run under the frame rails whereas the undercar exhaust runs directly besides and bleow your feet and seat....
