I was looking at http://www.corvetteforum.com/ and noticed on their picture montage for C3's that one of the C3s has a chrome grill over the side vent. Anyone know who makes this product? I have looked through several vendor catalogs and been unable to find it.

Any help would be appreciated.

That is the egg crates from an earlier model year. 71 if I recall correctly.

yup, egg crate grills, early C3....:_rock

Any idea where to get them? Or if they will fit a 76? I have looked online at ecklers, madvet, zip, tld and none of them list them.

Gracias. Guess they really are that rare. Someone needs to repro them.

The '69's had a chrome/metal insert that went inside the gill vents.
Yup, '71 has the egg crates. They're not as hard to clean and wax as a lot of people claim.

It would probably require a lot of work, maybe cutting. The egg crates sit deeper than the side vents on the 73-79s. Where the actual whole is pretty narrow on the later models, the egg crates opening in the body is about six inches or so wide (from memory, don't have the car anymore).

You need to come to the Corvette Cruise-In in Manassas on the 22nd and just check out a few;).

Honestly, when I read your question I thought you were referring to the chrome trim on the BB hood just to the left of the "c3" script on the image. Good thing I paid attention:eyerole.

Egg crates (or ice trays) are OE on 70, 71 & 72 ... it'd take MUCH work to fit them into another year model ... and they tend to be rather pricey to acquire. Suggest a retrofit is impractical.

68 & 69 have vertical gills (that's gill, not grille) ... some have shiney inserts.

73 thru 82 have holes.

Righthand corner of the CF banner is the stock fender vent grille for 70-72. They will not fit '76s without hacking out a holes in your '76 fenders or installing the fender dog legs from a donor 70-72.

Where is the Cruise-In and what time? I can probably make it out there.

Here's a link to that thread. It's in the big parking lot in front of Best Buy on 234 in Manassas. Take exit 47A and look for best Buy on the left. If you pass the Chevy dealer on the right, you've gone too far. There will be around 300 Vettes there.
