Dose anyone know if dot 5 silicone brake fluid can be topped up with dot 5 + 1 synthetic fluid ?. The local motor factor is not sure and cant find anyone that sells silicone.

You cannot mix regular brake fluid with synthetic. It will jell up and you will have to replace the entire brake hydraulic system.

I know as of the 1992 Corvette the use of DOT 5 was specifically NOT used!

It has been my understanding, that you shouldn't mix anything with silicone brake fluid except silicone brake fluid!!;shrug Call Vet Brakes & Parts and ask them, maybe it's changed in the last 15-20 years!

Well, I don't think you need my opinion when I look at the other replies but No silicon can only be added with silicon. Dot 4 can be added with Dot 5.1. Dot 5.0 only with Dot 5.0.
